Challenging economic times demand more vigilant governance and it is appropriate that organisations are using internal audit to review their operations more extensively. Protiviti and the Institute of Internal Auditors conducted research earlier this year with chief audit executives from over 150 organisations in the public and private sectors. The research highlights that organisations must address a number of issues to enable their internal audit function to more effectively advance good corporate governance.
