CFSA™ Exam Content & Format

The CFSA™ exam format offers candidates a choice of three financial services disciplines - banking, insurance and securities.  The exam consists of  125 multiple choice questions in a time of three hours and half hours.  Exam questions are all multiple-choice (objective) with four-answer choice.  

The exam is NOT open book. 

Exam Nondisclosure

The CFSA™ exam is a nondisclosed examination, which means that current exam questions and answers will not be published or divulged. Candidates' question booklets must be turned in with their answer sheets at the conclusion of the examination. 

CFSA™ Exam Topic Outline

All candidates undertake the core content and then choose one of the three specialties.  The core content (100 questions) covers all three disciplines - banking, insurance and securities:
  • Domain I: Financial Services Auditing (25-35 percent)
  • Domain II: Auditing Financial Services Products (25-35 percent)
  • Domain III: Auditing Financial Services Processes (25-35 percent)
  • Domain IV: The Regulatory Environment (10-20 percent)

The specialist content, covering 25 questions, comprises:
  • Banking: Products, Processes and the Regulatory Environment
  • Insurance: Products, Processes and the Regulatory Environment
  • Securities: Products, Processes and the Regulatory Environment

CFSA™ candidates may choose any one of the three disciplines as part of their CFSA™ exam test, however candidates may not choose to be tested on more than one discipline.
